Why Mobile?

Why I Bring the Studio to You. This focus on comfort is exactly why I operate a professional mobile studio. Traditional photo studios can be stressful for animals—there are strange smells, slippery floors, and the anxiety of the car ride to get there. By bringing a professional studio setup directly to your home, your pet gets to stay in their safe, familiar territory. They can take breaks on their own couch, drink from their own bowl, and most importantly, just be themselves.

James Thomson | Founder & Lead Photographer

With over 26 years of experience in studio portraiture, commercial, and corporate photography, James Thomson brings many years of experience to the world of pet portraiture. But for James, it’s about more than just technical precision—it’s about family.

Hello! I’m James, and I believe our pets deserve a place on the gallery wall. My journey to pet photography began with a simple desire: to capture the genuine, quirky, and soulful personalities of the animals who bring us so much joy.

While I draw on more than two decades of professional experience in the corporate and commercial world, my approach today is guided by one thing: patience. I know that dogs don’t always "sit" and cats rarely follow a script—and that’s perfectly okay. By reading their body language and earning their trust, I create a safe, happy environment where your pet can truly be themselves. I'm not just taking a photo; I'm preserving a family legacy.

My mission statement

"My mission is to honor the bond between pets and their people by creating timeless photographic art. I believe every pet is a family member deserving of a portrait that captures their true, personality in an environment where they feel safe and loved."
